THE BOOK How to Be Top Dog in the Competition Arena
IJA is the first to establish the most in depth policies and procedures manuals with all job positions and responsibilities for each and every individual on the team. The manuals demonstrate, step by step, how to run the most fair and most professional competition arena in the world. How to be Top Dog in the Dog Grooming Competition Arena online Virtual Reference Book is the first of its kind and is available now, as well as online support by the specialists at IJA in running competitions. The details and procedures were created by the best of the best in the industry and cofounders of IJA, Vivian and John Nash. Recognized as international dog grooming competition judges and owners of the Nash Academy, the dog grooming school with an international reputation, Vivian and John produced the most fair and organized competitions in the world and moved the competition world to a whole new level.
Scoring System becomes a Certification System
Panel System of Judging
The International Association for Dog Grooming Competitions utilizes a judging panel, as opposed to a single judge, for each contest class. During the contest, judges converse and share their opinions. Placements are determined by consensus, not an individual judge, creating a stellar reputation for the IJA Judging Team.

Panel of IJA Judges are the Dog Grooming Specialists of the World
International competitions must have an international panel of judges to create an all around judging panel to find the best of the best in the ring. The IJA Panel of Judges are the dog grooming specialists from around the world. IJA Judges gather during competitions to discuss the progress of each and every competitor creating the ultimate educational environment for judges to determine the correct placements. Judges train fellow judges by sharing their knowledge and expertise during panel discussions and work together as a team to create the most advanced and progressive international team of judging experts worldwide.

The IJA Judging Panel - A Highly Trained Panel of Judges
The IJA Judging Panel is more than a group of judges hired to run a competition. The IJA Judging Panel consists of all pure breed specialists who have worked together as the core team and have established excellent communication. The judging panel can freely discuss each and every competitor and give and receive opinions without fear of opinions being considered political calls or moves for self gain.

Since 1998 Setting Judging Standards for Dog Grooming Competitions
The IJA panel of judges evaluates competitors on technical skills, profiles skills, the amount of difficulty achieved during the competition, as well as professional skills. The concept was created and utilized by IJA at the first competition and is still in use today to find the best professional dog groomers in the world.

COMPETITION RESULTS in 30 MINUTES
The IJA Judging Panel can deliver results in 30 minutes. The 30 minute time frame was established in the beginning by Vivian and John Nash, cofounders of IJA, to create the most professional and compassionate competition arena for the competitors and the competition dogs.

Same Policies and Procedures Since 1998
IJA has used the same structure since 1998, setting standards for judging dog grooming competitions worldwide and a method to find the best of the best in the dog grooming competition arena.

IJA Competitors Placed in Levels by IJA Judges - Competitors DO NOT Choose Levels
IJA Judges evaluate and qualify competitors to create a fair competition arena based upon their skill level and talent. IJA Competitors are not asked to choose a level. IJA qualifies competitors and places competitors in a level. This qualification process eliminates all the issues of competitors choosing the wrong level and being disqualified by entering the wrong level or causing negative reactions from other competitors because they are over qualified.

IJA Places Competitors by Skill Level and Talent NOT by Wins
IJA evaluates and qualifies competitors based upon their skill level and talent and NOT by competition wins because the latter is not accurate. Wins can place competitors in levels they are not qualified to be in and this results in competitors not returning to the ring. To build a competition arena, you must create a fair playing field for competitors to want to enter the ring and to continue to come back.

IJA Competitors are NOT PLACED by Job Positions
IJA places competitors in the competition ring by skill level and talent and not by a job title or position. IJA believes to achieve the ultimate competition arena, competitors must be qualified and placed in levels.
IJA Qualifies Competitors for a Competition Year
IJA qualifies competitors for the competition year who participate in IJA Sanctioned Competitions around the world. Competitors are not moved up by wins.

Vision, Concept, Dream and Goal of Vivian and John Nash, Cofounders of IJA
The vision of Vivian and John Nash in 1998 was to make the IJA Ring the most popular gathering area in the world, for the best to receive and give education freely. The concept was to use the panel system of judging to eliminate any types of conflict that would prohibit the freedom of speech and sharing education with competitors and fellow judges to move our industry forward in a progressive manner. The dream was for the best of the best to share their best kept secrets to allow our experts and our most experienced to move us forward with the correct information. The goal was to create an international panel of judges who would work together to receive and give opinions and to educate each other to create the best INTERNATIONAL judging team in the world.
