Fees & Application Procedures
Application
If you are a professional groomer and stylist and would like to begin a judging career or if you are currently a judge interested in applying for the prestigious position of an IJA Judge, you must first submit your application with the non-refundable $75.00 application fee.
Review of Application and Professional Profile
After review of the application and professional profile by the IJA Judges Acceptance Committee, the applicant will receive an official notification from the committee.
Registration & Training
Upon acceptance, you will receive email notification with a link that will allow you to pay your $175.00 registration fee and training fee for your online and onsite training sessions. IJA will place you in a Judge in Training status until you have completed the required training courses specific to IJA Judging Policies and Procedures.
Invitation ONLY
If you are an experienced judge and receive a special invitation from IJA to join the prestigious team of IJA Judges, you must complete the application with your Professional Profile information and then submit the $250.00 application, registration and processing fee.
Annual Membership
An IJA Judge must submit an annual membership fee of $100.00 by September 1st of each year to renew Membership and receive Members Only Benefits. A judge who does not submit his/her annual membership by September 1st, will be placed as inactive and will not be considered for assignments for the following competition year.
Approval Procedure (Judges Acceptance Committee)
All applications received by September 1st will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judges Acceptance Committee during the annual meeting held in Hershey, Pennsylvania each year at Groom Expo.
All applications received after September 1st, but before February 1st, will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judges Acceptance Committee during the annual meeting held in Pasadena, California each year at Groom & Kennel Expo.
All applications received after February 1st, but before July 1st, will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judges Acceptance Committee during the annual meeting held in Ohio each year at Petquest.
All applicants will receive a reply within 30 days of the date of the Judges Acceptance Committee.
The official procedures of accepting new IJA Judges is conducted at Groom & Kennel Expo, Petquest and Groom Expo. New judges are encourage to attend these prestigious events to meet IJA Judges from around the world and to be honored and recognized as a member of the International Judges Association for Dog Grooming Competition.
Status: Active or Inactive
An IJA Judge is placed in an active status category upon acceptance. The status of an IJA Judge may change due to various reasons. An IJA Judge may ask to be placed as inactive due to medical, family and/or business issues or a judge may be placed in an inactive status due to entering the competition ring or for non payment of annual membership dues.
Reinstatement
To apply for re-instatement, the inactive judge must complete the judge's application and pay the application fee.
Reinstatement requests must be received by September 1st to be placed on the agenda for review by the Judges Acceptance Committee during the annual meeting held in Hershey, Pennsylvania each year at Groom Expo.
